1999 West Bend Memorial Air Festival
May 29-30, 1999

West Bend Airport (ETB), West Bend, Wisconsin
Sponsored by Baker Company and Kettle Moraine EAA Chapter 1158

The 1st Annual West Bend Memorial Air Festival was held on May 29th and May 30th at West Bend Municipal Airport. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the crowd was treated to stunning airshow performances. The Skydivers, Dacy Stearmans, Buell Sukhoi SU-26, "Ditto" T-28, Otto the Clown Helicopter and Christen Eagle put on a show to remember. Even the C-130 Hercules joined in the fun with several low passes before departing on Sunday. Static displays included the EAA Spirit of St. Louis replica, various homebuilt craft and projects, and airplanes flown in by attendees. A flag pole memorial dedication, excellent food vendors and lots of fun displays rounded out a great event.

Here is a sample of the feedback we've received:

"We just returned from the West Bend Memorial Airshow, and I wanted to take a minute to tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves. When I found that I had the Memorial Day Weekend free, I consulted the 'Calendar' at avweb.com and found your show, as well as the airshow traditionally held each Memorial Day weekend in Columbia, MO, just 90 miles west of my home airport, SUS. They had the Thunderbirds there, but they also had such potential crowding that they were encouraging transient pilots to land thirty miles down the road and catch a shuttle back. Not my cup of tea. I was thrilled that your ramp volunteers were willing to let me tie down in the grass and set up our chairs beneath the wing of our 182. The acts were fantastic, and I was surprised when the announcer stated that this was your first year for the show. I have nothing but congratulations for you, for a job well done, and I look forward to a return visit with more friends next year."
